Abstract: The reader is shown how to perform calculations to solve two problems. The first involves a formula for a diaper rash ointment and shows the reader how to calculate the quantity of each ingredient needed to prepare a specified number of jars, how to calculate the selling price of each jar and how to calculate the quantity of retinol and ergocalciferol in each jar of ointment. The second involves a formula for a topical anesthetic solution and shows the reader how to calculate the percent strength of one ingredient in the formula and how to determine whether the solution is isotonic.
