Abstract:  Drugs must often be formulated in a nonaqueous vehicle. The author discusses the following nonaqueous solvents: Alkyl (Ca12-C15) Benzoate NF; Almond Oil NF; Corn Oil NF; Cottonseed Oil NF; Ethyl Oleate NF; Isopropyl Myristate NF; Isopropyl Palmitate NF; Mineral Oil USP; Mineral Oil, Light NF; Octyldodecanol NF; Olive Oil NF; Peanut Oil NF; Safflower Oil USP; Sesame Oil NF; Soybean Oil USP and Squalane NF. Tables provide information regarding physicochemical characters of oleaginous vehicles.
