Abstract

This article discusses health issues for the elderly/geriatric population, covering considerations regarding patients and their families, anatomic and physiologic changes and changes in the way the body handles drugs. A sidebar presents a list of suggestions, adapted from an article by Salom IL, Davis K (Geriatrics 1995;50:37-44), for avoiding drug effects/interactions in geriatric patients.
