Abstract:  This profile features Verne Betlach, RPh, FIACP, and the Custom-RX Compounding Pharmacy in Richfield, MN. This practice doesn’t handle traditional medication or have a storefront, and Betlach schedules patients for appointments. His practice is established along the lines of an office-based, compounding-only practice. Marketing efforts have been targeted at both physicians and veterinarians, but he also directs a lot of effort at reaching out through patients. Part of his energy in calling on physicians is aimed at getting to know front-desk personnel. He also sends a follow-up letter with his business card to each patient for whom he compounds a prescription. He speaks and is very active in his state pharmacy association’s activities. A few other marketing tips of this innovative practice are described.
